The 39 mk franking is correct for a 10 gram airmail letter to the U.S. 1 July 1948 through 30 October 1949: 15 mk for a foreign letter to 20 grams, plus 12 mk per 5 grams airmail surcharge. While this is a somewhat ordinary looking cover, each of stamps are scarce in Used condition with a 2025 Scott value of $3 per Used stamp! They are much scarcer on cover! Airmail rate covers in this era are challenging to find. ACTUAL item. |
