Scott #44a [1898 8 øre Bicolor Perf 12.75; Small Watermark, Inverted Frame] Used with VF centering and VF "VALLØ / 2 P(OST)" cancellation. (This specific cancellation style never included a year date.) Very fresh, with brilliant color and perfect perforations. As of 3/2025, I do not recall ever before having an example of a VALLØ cancellation -- it is a very small town that in 2007 was merged into a surrounding municipality. This cancellation style is actively collected -- nicely struck examples are challenging to find.

44d, Facit #40b, AFA #25C [8 øre Perf 12.75, WATERMARK NEW CROWN, Print 121 (1902)]. Brilliant right margin NEVER HINGED 4-BLOCK from positions A29-30/39-40 with Fine/F-VF centering. Appears to have been last sold in 1993 in a Christies auction where it was described as being from "the unique quarter sheet discovered by F.T.N. Caröe". Accompanied by Lasse Nielsen certificate stating "very fine item". An extremely scarce stamp as a single in Mint hinged condition and RARE as either a block or a single in NH condition. Value AS SINGLES: Facit 2024 SEK 40,000 = $4,000 but this is well behind the market for rare NH condition. AFA 2023 value AS SINGLES DKK 40,000 = $6,000. The AFA 2017 (most recent edition) BLOCK catalog does not price this era in NH condition, but in Hinged condition, it uses about a 1.35 times (per stamp) multiple, which would result in a NH block value of around DKK 52,000 or US$7,800. (US$ conversions as of 9/1/2024). This block certainly has a break-up value of more than my price. This block is a showpiece with excellent investment potential as the value is supported by the four stamps which are constantly sought after by every serious collector of Danish stamps.
