Scott #82 Plate Variety, AFA #67p [1912 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 12.75, Crown Watermark] Mint, NO GUM, with VF centering. Wonderfully fresh looking with terrific color and "perfect" perforations. AFA-listed "p" variety: "extra white cloud to the right of the top of the tower" from sheet position 33. The AFA Specialized 2016 Catalog (still the most recent edition as of 4/2026) value is DKK 3000 for a normal Mint Hinged stamp with gum and DKK 6000 for the "p" variety Mint Hinged with gum [as of 4/2026 those are US$460 and US$920]. The varieties on this issue are quite difficult to obtain in Used condition and rarely offered in Unused/Mint condition. I have recorded having one other example of this variety (it was in Used condition) since I started recording them around 2000; I may have had another Used example between 1973 and 2000, but I am quite sure that I have never had a Mint/Unused example. This Mint No Gum example of the stamp is extremely nice even without regard to the variety -- such nicely centered Mint/Unused examples of this stamp (without a variety) are "quite scarce". An example of this stamp, without a variety, Mint Hinged with gum, and with this centering would otherwise be $495!

Scott #82 Plate Variety, AFA #67m [1912 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 12.75, Crown Watermark] Used with VF centering and an extremely light cancellation that is clear of the variety. Catalog-listed PLATE VARIETY 2016 AFA Specialized Catalog (still the most recent edition as of 11/2025) #67m "small color spot in top of K of KRONER" from position 13 in the sheet. The AFA value is DKK 2800 (about US$445 as of 11/2025). The plate varieties on this issue are quite difficult to obtain and it is unusual to find them unobscured by the postmark. This example is extremely nice.

135 [1915 5 Kr Post Office Building, Crosses Watermark] Used with VF+ centering (scarce on this stamp) and neat, well-centered, and fully dated 18 September 1916 "KØBENHAVN K" cancellation. The cancel has a star below the city name; I do not recall previously seeing that feature. The stamp has an AFA-listed PLATE VARIETY #81z "seagull (white spot) to the center left of the left 5" from position 10 in the sheet.. AFA 2016 Specialized value DKK 3400 = US$545 (12/2018). A handsome example of the stamp, made even nicer by an attractive postmark, and with a scarce plate variety.

135 [1915 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 14 x 14.5, Watermark Crosses] Used with XF centering and remarkably light, neat corner cancellation ("RAN...") dated 14 February 1919. The town name is probably Randers; cancellations other than København are much scarcer. It is quite unusual to find such a neatly and lightly canceled example, especially with the full date showing, and especially on a well-centered stamp. Brilliant color and fresh, bright paper. An outstanding example of a stamp that is seldom offered this nice.

Scott #135 [1915 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 14 x 14.5, Crosses Watermark] Used with F-VF centering and a Superb 12 June 1915 "KJØBENHAVN / TOLD / B / POST" cancellation. Used just five weeks after issue. A wonderful example of a scarce stamp that is missing from many collections. Because this high-denomination stamp was most often used on heavy parcels (parcel cards), they often damaged and very often are struck with heavy and/or multiple cancellations. Examples without any defects and with single nicely centered cancellations are "quite unusual". A handsome example, whether collected for the stamp or the postmark.

Scott #135 Plate Variety, AFA #81x [1915 5 kr Post Office, Perforation 14 x 14.5, Crosses Watermark] Used with VF centering and appearance, but with an age spot and a thin. Catalog-listed MAJOR PLATE VARIETY 2016 AFA Specialized Catalog (still the most recent edition as of 11/2025) #81x "F instead of E in KØBENHAVN" from position 44 in the sheet. The AFA value is DKK 4200 (about US$660 as of 11/2025) -- the most valuable and sought-after plate variety on this stamp. The cancellation is well clear of the variety and the variety is easy to see. The plate varieties on this issue are quite difficult to obtain and it is unusual to find them unobscured by the postmark. Accompanied by a 1971 Gunner Lundegaard Nielsen photo certificate confirming the identification and mentioning the thin. GLN was a well-respected expert in his time. This example is very nice looking and if not for the quality problems would be $600. Offered at a very low price for this scarce variety!

NH examples are scarce. A scarce stamp in any quality; missing from most collections. A very nice example of the unusual rough perforation variety.

156, AFA 112x, Facit #194v [1920 10 øre red Kronborg Castle] Used with F-VF centering, with couple blunted perforations. An excellent example -- cancellation is clear of the variety -- of the well-known "N of DANMARK filled in (white)" variety. This stamp is from plate position 89 in only part of the printing; based on the high catalog value it must be from only a very small part of the printing before it was discovered and repaired. AFA 2016 (most recent edition) Specialized Catalog value is DKK 1400 and Facit 2024 value is SEK 1500. This variety is on many want lists.

Lightly canceled, well away from the well-known "missing pearl in 0 of 1920" variety. This stamp is on many want lists; such attractive examples are hard to find.

161 YELLOW [1921 8 on 7 øre surcharged Christian X] Used with XF centering and neat cancellation. The underlying stamp was listed in YELLOW by the AFA catalog up to and including in the 1981-1982 AFA Specialized Catalog edition. This color (of the unoverprinted stamp) was listed as AFA #98a and (unoverprinted) as AFA 118a; both Mint and Used examples of both versions were priced at approximately TEN TIMES the value of the normal range of orange colors. After that 1981-82 edition, the listings were consolidated and AFA #98a and #118a were dropped. For the unoverprinted stamp, there is a space for this yellow color in many European-made albums, but I am not sure about albums with spaces for the overprinted stamp. The plate reference book by Knud Juul states that stamps from all 10 plates of the unoverprinted stamp were overprinted, but that no records were kept of the quantities from each plate. Juul did not state which colors/shades came from which printings/plates. Based on the delivery dates of the unoverprinted stamps from the plates and my observation of the cancellation dates on unoverprinted stamps, the unoverprinted YELLOW stamps most likely came from Print III (Plate #121-H) and/or perhaps Print IV (Plate #122-C). The cancellation on this stamps shows a final "3" for the year date (surely 1923). This is one of the nicest looking YELLOW examples of the overprinted stamps that I have had in 50 years!

Scott #167a (164-7 block) [1924 10 øre Postal Service 300th Anniversary] NEVER HINGED 4-block, with F-VF centering, in "standard" (inward facing) orientation. Wonderfully fresh and bright with typical centering for the issue, "perfect" perforations (no folding of the block), and pristine NH original gum. A very nice example!

Scott #171a (168-171 block) [1924 15 øre Postal Service 300th Anniversary] NEVER HINGED 4-block, with VF/F-VF centering, in "standard" (inward facing) orientation. Small perforation holes variety: the perforation holes of this block are about half the size of the normal perforation holes; this also results in rough perforations. This perforation variety is seldom seen. Wonderfully fresh and bright with better than usual centering for the issue, "perfect" perforations (no folding of the block), and pristine NH original gum. A very nice example of the block and an especially nice example of the variety!

This stamp is much scarcer Used than Mint and examples with a well-centered, dated-in-period town cancellation are hard to find. VF stamp centering is also hard to find. A stamp with this centering and a ordinary cancellation would be $16.75. This is an unusually nice example with great centering, strong color, and excellent perforations!

While this has not been hinged, there are a couple very small gum disturbance spots in the selvage and one tiny such spot on the lower left stamp, thus I count that stamp as hinged. Strong perforations and wonderfully fresh appearance. Plate blocks of this attractive issue are seldom available. Priced at about the total value of the Superb NH 3x singles and one as hinged (this is a scarcer stamp in NH condition).

Such nice cancellations are hard to find on the Christian X 60th Birthday issue. This example is probably the nicest Used example of the 30 øre that I have had in 51 years!
