Scott #80 SMALL PEARL FLAW Variety Position 69, AFA #61æ [1912 35 surcharge on 20 øre Bicolor] Mint hinged with F-VF+ centering. A very clear example of the "Small Pearl Flaw" variety (located in the upper area of the upper right corner). This example is defined by Lasse Nielsen as Pearl Flaw B37 which occurs in Position 69 of the underlying 20 øre stamp Print 7; the overprinting was only done on Print 7 stamps. Fresh and bright with wonderful colors and extremely nice perforations for this stamp. (The perforation tool used for this printing had some bent teeth, thus the perforation teeth of the stamp always vary in thickness and length.) This is a seldom-seen variety. The AFA 2016 Specialized Catalog (as of March 2026, still the most recent edition) value is DKK 400 = US$65 [3/2026] which, considering only two positions in the sheet had a (each different) Small Pearl Flaw variety, is a very small premium over the normal-stamp AFA value. Such nice looking, undamaged Mint examples of this stamp are quite hard to find!
