B2 [1921 "+10+" overprinted surcharge on 20 øre Sønderborg Castle, South Jutland Reunion; Red Cross semi-postal] Used VF 4-block with neat central postmark. It is difficult to be 100% sure due to the cancellation, but the upper left stamp appears to have the well-known AFA-listed 121x variety "missing white dot in 0 of 20" that occurs in position 2 of every plate/sheet. If that is the case, then this block contains sheet positions 2-3/12-13 and with some research into the plating of the underlying stamp it should be possible to confirm those plate positions. If this contains the variety, the variety alone is valued by AFA 2023 at DKK 1200 = $165 (10/2022). However, even nice used singles of this stamp are now scarce. Facit 2022 PER-STAMP value is SEK 600 and AFA 2023 is DKK 600 = $84 each (10/2022) for ordinary quality. Used blocks are seldom seen. The AFA 4-BLOCK Catalog 2017 (most recent edition) value is DKK 3000 = $420 (10/2022). A handsome and scarce Used block. ACTUAL item. |

A beautiful example with large margins, "perfect" centering, and correct original gum lightly hinged. The perforations show consistent bent / missing perforation pins on the sides (near the top); this is a production variety, not a quality problem. While this is certainly not a scarce stamp, all three stamps of this set are very hard to find in such nice quality. ACTUAL item. |

Scott #B3 [1929 10 øre green Cancer Semi-Postal. Though not indicated on the stamps, all three stamps of this issue were sold at a 5 øre premium for cancer research] Used HORIZONTAL STRIP OF THREE with XF centering. Very strong perforations; has NOT been folded. Lightly canceled with three strikes of a STARLESS ("UDS") type cancellation. I cannot recall previously, in 53 years, having a used multiple of this stamp larger than a pair; there certainly has not been such on my website and that has been 25+ years. Furthermore, this 3-stamp "Cancer" semi-postal issue is "unusual" with small town or village cancellations and "extremely scarce" with star or starless ("uds") cancellations. This lightly-struck starless cancellation is hard to read, but I believe that it has 6 letters and that the first letter is B and the second letter is either O or Ø. The third letter appears to have a curved bottom. The final letter could be an N. These clues lead me to think it is BØJDEN. This stamp was issued 1 August 1929. According to Bendix/Kern, the last recorded use (as of 2006) of the BØJDEN star cancellation is 6 June 1929 and was replaced by the starless version of the device in "August 1929". However, Bendix/Kern list the first recorded example of the BØJDEN starless cancellation as 19 February 1930. While there is no way to know exactly when this 3-strip was canceled, it is very likely an early use (since these stamps were only actively sold for a relatively short period of time) as well as any starless cancellation being scarce on this stamp. Single XF-centered examples of this stamp would sell for $8 each. Though this 3-strip is not of great financial value, this is a very scarce item! ACTUAL item. |
