Neat cancellation that leaves the variety clearly visible. This variety exists, and is listed by AFA, for all the values in the set, but it is quite a challenge to find them all. AFA 2016 values it at DKK 220 = $37 6/2018, but it is much harder to find than that modest value suggests. ACTUAL item. |

Scott #78 [1907 100 øre Frederik VIII, Perforation 12.75] Mint, original gum, modest hinge remnant, with XF centering. A wonderfully fresh and bright example with terrific centering, "perfect" perforations, and correct original gum. The AFA Specialized Catalog 2016 (still the most recent edition as of September 2026) states that there were ten printings of this stamp which AFA divides into five color groups with variations of yellowish-brown to brownish-yellow and a scarcer "warm brownish orange". This example appears to be AFA #59a the Light Brownish Yellow printed in 1909. In Mint Hinged condition, this is the key value of the set and it is remarkably difficult to find an example this well centered. ACTUAL item. |
