Scott #1a [1847 5c dark brown Franklin] Used Fine with neat "X" manuscript cancellation. Three clear margins and just in on the left side. There is a tiny, faint corner crease in the upper right corner. This example is in the "dark brown family", but is most likely the grayish (dark) brown shade noted in Scott, but I have priced this stamp as the most common color of #1. (To put the value into perspective, Scott 2021 value for the most common color of #1 is $350 a handstamped cancel and $190 for a pen cancel. However, the dark brown is listed at $400 and the grayish brown at $525, both with handstamped cancels.)

Scott #1b [1847 5c Orange Brown Franklin] The scarcer Orange Brown color. Used F-VF+ with three large margins and one closer. Blue grid and pen cancellations. Accompanied by a 2016 Philatelic Foundation certificate stating that it is genuine, but "with small creases". (I can find one "crease" that is out in the margin and could actually be cut off, but that is it.) No other defects. Very affordable because of the additional pen cancel. (Scott 2017 value $750 for a normally canceled stamp, plus a small premium for a blue cancel; however, less, but not specified, for a pen canceled #1b stamp.)

Scott #1 MAJOR DOUBLE TRANSFER TYPE B [1847 5c Red Brown Franklin] Deep Red Brown color shade (per certificate). Used Fine with one full margin, one close, one touching, and one in. Very neat, light red grid cancellation. Accompanied by a 2016 Philatelic Foundation certificate stating that it is genuine. No defects. The double transfer Type B has doubling of the top and bottom frame lines, which this lightly canceled example nicely shows. Very attractive. (2017 Scott value $550.)
Scott #9 [1852 1c blue Franklin Type IV] Mint with partial gum, hinge remnant. Enormous margin at top, but in at right and bottom, and large incursion at left. Very slight bend and slight aging. Based on how I acquired this stamp, I suspect that it was lost in the back of a desk drawer for one hundred years or more before coming into the hands of a collector. Though the left margin leaves something to be desired, it is an example of how people had difficulty separating these imperforate stamps back in the early 1850s. A reasonably priced example of an unused stamp that is 168 years old! (Scott 2021 value $725 for full gum and $225 for no gum.)

Scott #11 [1855 3c dull red Washington Type I] Used VF with four clear margins. DULL ORANGE RED shade. Extremely lightly canceled; at first glance you might think it is mint because the backside still retains full gum (!!) and a tiny bit of the envelope paper that it was on. (Such still-gummed examples can be helpful to show what the original gum looked like.) Very pretty.

Scott #11 [1855 3c dull red Washington Type I] Used VF+ with four clear margins, one into the next stamp. Wonderfully fresh with neat town cancel and extremely well-defined and crisp engraving (must have been from new plate) on extremely white paper. While this is not a scarce stamp, this is an unusually nice example; such crisp engraving is the exception.

Scott #11 [1855 3c dull red Washington Type I] Used F-VF with three clear margins. Very nicely struck, nearly complete "COLEBRO(OK) / (N)H" cancellation of Colebrook, New Hampshire. Though this is not a scarce stamp, such complete and identifiable small town cancels are hard to find. Very fresh and attractive.
