785-794 [1936-1937 Army Navy set of 10] Unused VF set of stamps affixed to highly decorated "album" or "display" page copyrighted (1937) by "O.W.L." (O.W. Lampe) and also with name at bottom of "J.W. Clifford". Both were early FDC cachet makers. Page with text "United States of America" / "Army Navy Heroes" / "Commemorating Deeds of Valor on Land and Sea". Wonderfully designed with great imagery. Excellent quality. From an estate, it was still contained in the previous seller packaging from at least 20-30 years ago with a price of $30. It is worth every penny of that and perhaps much more today. [While, many years ago, I have previously seen a few examples of such pages (I am not sure about this stamp issue), I do not know much about them and welcome more information or pointers to references.] ACTUAL item. |
