Scott #461 [1915 2c carmine-red Washington, Type I, Perf 11, Single-Line Watermark] NEVER HINGED with XF (or better) centering. Wonderfully fresh with terrific color (usually more pale) -- pristine! A handsome example of an often-overlooked scarce stamp that is seldom seen in such nice condition. Accompanied by a 2021 Philatelic Foundation certificate that grades this example at XF/90. However, grading is an art not a science, and in my opinion this example is XF-Superb/95 and it might get that grading from another of the expertizing services. Certainly the nicest looking Mint or NH example of this scarce stamp I have been able to offer in 47 years. (Scott 2021 $700 for NH XF/90 and $1600 for XF-Superb/95.) ACTUAL item. |
