Scott #246 LIGHT ULTRAMARINE [1894 1c ultramarine Franklin, First Bureau Triangles, Unwatermarked] Mint, lightly hinged, with XF centering. There is a natural blind perforation tooth on the left side and slightly blunted teeth on the right side, but this is a very nice looking example. (Scott 2024 $30.)

Scott #246 MEDIUM ULTRAMARINE [1894 1c ultramarine Franklin, First Bureau Triangles, Unwatermarked] Used with VF centering and mostly face-free cancellation. The basic listing in Scott is for "Ultramarine", to which this example is closest, however, most examples one finds are actually Light Ultramarine. This Medium Ultramarine color is less common for this stamp and should have a higher catalog value in my opinion.

Scott #246 DARK ULTRAMARINE [1894 1c ultramarine Franklin, First Bureau Triangles, Unwatermarked] Used with Average centering, jumbo margins, and extremely light cancellation. This color is really quite unusual for this stamp; Scott mentions Dark Ultramarine, but it should have a much higher catalog value! Pretty example despite the centering.

Scott #247 MEDIUM BLUE [1894 1c blue Franklin, First Bureau Triangles, Unwatermarked] Mint, with heavy hinge and disturbed gum, with F-VF centering. Confirmed to not have a watermark. Most examples of this stamp are fairly Dark Blue; though there is a scarcer "Light" Blue. However, this example is a hybrid: The heavy/solid areas appear very dark, but the rest of the stamp color is fairly light. I attribute this not so much to the color of the ink, but the shallowness of the engraving of the thinner lines (lighter appearing areas). Thus this is color appearance is, in my opinion, a plate-making issue, not an ink issue. A very interesting example that is little known. (Scott 2024 $62.50 for Mint OG, Hinged.) This example is priced for the color situation, but priced as if it was without gum.
