Scott #489 LINE PAIR [1917 3c violet Washington, Type I, Perf 10 Horizontally Coil] NEVER HINGED with F-VF centering on the top stamp and Average centering on the bottom stamp. (This type of centering difference is typical on line pairs because the spacing between the stamps is different where the two half-cylinders is different where they join to make a line pair.) A fresh and attractive example of a hard-to-find line pair. (Scott 2025 $70.)

Scott #492 Carmine Rose [1917 2c carmine Washington Coil, Type III, Perforation 10, Unwatermarked] Mint, lightly hinged, with VF-XF centering. Very fresh and attractive with remarkably nice centering and perforations for this stamp. One of the two Scott-listed colors for this stamp. Though this is not a "scarce" stamp in Mint condition, nice examples can be surprisingly hard to find. (Scott 2026 graded value $11 for VF-XF/85.)

Scott #494 Pale Violet [1919 3c violet Washington Coil, Type II, Perforation 10, Unwatermarked] This example appears to have some characteristics of both Type I and Type II. I have identified it as Type II because the 5th line in the toga rope is complete, the inner oval border around the portrait is faint or not present, and the color is more associated with Type II. However, overall inking and print is very light, making the all the lines very thin or faint more like Type I. Possibly this is a hybrid type or an intermediate stage with intact lines in the toga rope? Mint hinged with F-VF centering. An attractive example of this very delicate color shade. (Scott 2026 value $10 for Type II; the value for #493 Type I is $16.)

Scott #495 Light Orange Brown [1917 4c Washington Coil, Perforation 10, Unwatermarked] Mint hinged with XF or XF-Superb centering. An extremely attractive example with delicate color, excellent perforations, and great overall appearance. While ordinary Mint examples of this stamp are not scarce, this stamp is quite hard to find with such nice centering. (Scott 2026 graded value is $15 for XF/90 and $25 for XF-Superb/95.)

Scott #496 Dull Ultramarine Blue [1919 5c Washington Coil, Perforation 10 (large holes), Unwatermarked] Mint, lightly hinged, with VF centering. However, there is a small blue spot on the reverse that appears to be under the gum; possibly an excess spot of the blue ink that got on the back prior to gumming. A remarkably crisp and clear, proof-like engraving impression. An extremely attractive example with wonderful color, excellent perforations, and great overall appearance. Scott does not list any color shades for this stamp, but in my experience, this example is an unusual color shade. While ordinary Mint examples of this stamp are certainly not scarce, this example is much nicer and more interesting than most.

Scott #497 [1922 10c orange yellow Franklin Coil, Perforation 10, Unwatermarked] Mint, lightly hinged, with F-VF+ centering. Wonderfully fresh and bright example with brilliant color, "perfect" perforations, very nice centering for this issue, and great overall appearance. While ordinary Mint examples of this stamp are not scarce, this example is much nicer, fresher, and brighter than most that I have seen. (Scott 2026 value is $17.50.)
