Scott #E3 [1893 10c orange Messenger Running] Mint with F-VF centering, but with small thin spot, disturbed gum, and a tiny inclusion speck. Very attractive with strong color and great overall appearance. The price is also very attractive. Most collectors do not realize that this is considered to be part of the Columbian Exposition issue and that it was printed in orange, instead of blue, because blue was too easily confused with the 1-cent Columbian Exposition stamp. Printing of the blue E2 was suspended when this orange stamp was issued, and resumed in February 1894! (Scott 2021 $300.) ACTUAL item. |
